Stop Feral Cat Hunting in Wisconsin!

1. On Monday, April 11th at the Department of Natural Resources (DNR) Conservation Congress Question #62 will be up for vote. Question #62 would define feral cats as an unprotected species, as if that's not bad enough, a feral cat is considered any cat without a collar and not under the control of the "owner". 2. Attend the Meetings – Meetings will take place in every county in Wisconsin on Monday, April 11, 2005 at 7 p.m. Check http://www.dnr.state.wi.us/org/nrboard/congress/sh/lo/index.htm for the meeting closest to where you live (Wisconsin residents should attend the meeting in their county).



3. Spread the Word - Keep people talking about this until April 11th so interest does not die down. Send an email to everyone in your address book and tell them to go to www.dontshootthecat.com. Talk about this in chat rooms, on forums and on your blog.



4. Contact the Departments of Tourism and Commerce - Let them know that if it becomes legal to hunt cats in Wisconsin, the economy will certainly suffer and you will not be visiting their state.



5. Write Secretary of Tourism Jim Holperin, Jholperin@travelwisconsin.com.



6. Write Secretary of Commerce Mary Burke, mpburke@commerce.state.wi.us.



7. Keep checking www.dontshootthecat.com for the most recent information about the Don't Shoot the Cat Campaign. The media page has links to many of the newspaper articles that have been written. They’ll soon be posting a downloadable flyer that you can post to spread awareness.



8. The key right now is getting the word out to Wisconsin residents to attend the hearings on April 11th and vote! If you have friends or family in Wisconsin, please urge them to attend the hearings and to spread the word to their friends. The more people we can let know, the better! The Cat Action Team is also looking for people to be County Coordinators in each county to help get the word out.
